Supported Living

Supported Living Services

Supported living is typically defined as housing where support and/or care services are provided to help people live as independently as possible.
Supported Living allows people to choose:

  • Where they want to live
  • Who they want to live with
  • How they want to be supported
  • What happens in their own home

People may live in an individual flat or have a room in a house with two or three other adults with similar needs.

We work closely with Housing Providers to provide you with suitable accommodation which comprise of 2, 3 or more people with similar needs sharing a home or single tenancy flats.
Supported living homes are ideal if you do not want to live in residential care but are finding it difficult copying at home.

Supported Living gives you the right to live as a tenant, meaning that you will have your own set of keys, be responsible to look after your home, pay your bills and arrange for repairs.
You have a right to claim Housing Benefit and other disability related benefits depending on your circumstances.

The support offered within the home can vary from visiting support to 24hour support either a sleep in or waking night support worker.

The support team are available to assist with personal care, medication, managing behaviours that may challenge others, emotional support, going out into the community, college, work and also to help you with tasks such as cooking, shopping, housework, paying bills, budgeting, repairs

We work in line with the Mental Capacity Act and in instances where a person is assessed as lacking capacity to sign their tenancy agreement or manage finances, we seek support and guidance from the social service department to ensure that the person is represented, and their views and wishes are taken into consideration when making best interest decisions in consultation with families and loved ones. If necessary, an application may need to be made to the Court of Protection and a deputy can be appointed to sign the tenancy agreement and manage finances.
